Painting for Diane is not an act of simply reproducing the subject or scene. It’s the excitement of really seeing, with the artist eye, the subject in terms of the visual dynamics of line, shape, value, color and texture. Each one is in a unique relationship to the other and the scene literally seems to “talk” to her, holding her attention, helping her enjoy the process of making art and sharing her visual experiences of the subject. Watercolor, she discovered early on, was the best medium for her to do quick sketches on location and then, in her art studio, to make into more refined and complex works of art. Her favorite subjects are landscapes, people, animals and flowers.
